Scattered showers fell across the area -- from a couple tenths to enough to wet the gauge. Crops are maturing very fast, and yield potential has disappeared for corn. Late beans are hanging on for dear life, but early beans are done. Harvest could start after Labor Day, except the great basis on corn will be the problem.
Very little rain fell across the area -- amounts of .2 of an inch or less. Crops are dying fast. My guess is the fantastic crop we had in June and July is now the second-worst since 2012. There are good fields in the area. Soybeans are anybody’s guess. If the markets and basis were good, it would be possible to have August corn ready.
