Harvest has started across the area. Most corn is above 20 percent in moisture. A few soybeans have been harvested, but next week a lot more will be ready. I don’t think the crop is as big as last year, but time will tell.
Scattered showers fell across the area -- from a couple tenths to enough to wet the gauge. Crops are maturing very fast, and yield potential has disappeared for corn. Late beans are hanging on for dear life, but early beans are done. Harvest could start after Labor Day, except the great basis on corn will be the problem.
